SimNav HW & SW update

After a few flights with the SimNav navigation device I decided it was time for an update. This update was mostly an bugfix update. Due to the design concept a simple swap is possible. Without disturbing flight critical instruments.

HW changes:

  • MacCready Rotarybutton
  • Next and Previous waypoint selection buttons
  • New GPS module GY-GPSV3-M8N (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou)
  • Instant toggle Airspace information button.
  • Instant toggle Topologie information.
  • Cable management.

Software changes:

  • Linux Security updates.
  • Stable Bluetooth support.
  • Fixed video driver issue –> Boot to linux desktop possible.
  • Added GPXSee for IGC file analysis.
  • Rework on python scripts.
  • Rearranged information default shown in XCSoar.

The breakout board and cable set was re-designed to make it more vibration resistant. The way the cable is managed will also reduce EMC issues.

An Additional button is provided for MacCready settings.

Bleutooth now supports wireless devices, easy for preflight taskmanagment. Not to be used in flight !

After a trip you can boot to linux to use GPXSee to analyse IGC logfile.
